Visiting The Solar Car Challenge

About

This year, the Coppell Solar Racing Team will be competing in the Solar Car Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. This year, the race will be a track race where we will drive around the same 1.5 mile loop NASCAR drives on. A total of 42 teams, including us, have registered and are expected to compete this year. The event is open to the public and visitors are encouraged to come support the teams. ​

Visitor Requirement

ALL visitors are required to meet the following requirements. Violating the following requirements will get our team penalties, don't be the one to penalise the team!
  1. Wear a full brim hat at ALL times. We have a few extra if you need to borrow one, please let the team know in advance if you will need a hat.
  2. Wear closed toe shoes
  3. Do NOT work on the car and stay in the garage at all times!

About Scrutineering Days

On scrutineering days, visitors will be able to watch the team as we complete our 7 stations. You will also be able to walk throughout the garage and watch the other teams. Visitors are not actually allowed to go with the team to the stations and must remain in the garage the entire time.

About Race Days

On race days, the solar teams which passed scrutineering will drive during the times posted above; the cars will line up on the track to begin racing 15 minutes before posted times. During race days, you will be able to watch the teams drive around the track as well as see teams fixing their cars as the break.
