MADE FOR STUDENTS, BY STUDENTS
The Coppell Solar Racing Team is a student organization that is based on the foundation of learning basic skills in each area of the car, along with working towards certification in either, SolidWorks or LabView, or both. The skill sets and experience levels among our members range from; no experience with engineering or cars whatsoever, to having minimal, but at least some exposure and a vague understanding, to intermediate knowledge and experience, to advanced. Because of this, we established a ranking system beginning with Rookie membership, then advancing to Intern membership, to Intern Trainers and Officers. For each division, a set of tasks and lessons are assigned. Previous years, we have assigned divisions based on the level of experience. However, this year, we will hybridize that idea along with a new one. Rookies will remain working on Electrathon, while those in other groups shall be divided (by interests) to either Outlaw I or Outlaw III. Not only does this team teach students about engineering and using renewable energy in transportation, but it also facilitates interpersonal and intrapersonal skills that can be applied throughout life. Our team is our family and we look out for each other and help each other grow and learn from our mistakes in a fun, safe, enriching, and educational environment.
The projects we take, all the work we do, and the bonds we make would not be possible without our sponsors. We encourage you to take a look at our sponsorship or Adopt-A-Cell page to find out how you can help us pave the way for renewable energy transportation!

OUR HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
The team began in 2008, growing quickly from a group of students who knew nothing about solar cars to being one of the fifteen teams to compete in the 2008 Winston Solar Car Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. Since then, the team has gone through its trials and tribulations, but has steadily increased its capabilities and knowledge across many different team captains and members. Finally in 2011, the team again competed in the Solar Car Challenge, this time coming in sixth place. This was a great success for the team as the car did not need to come off the track for any repairs and ran the entire time, covering 325 miles over 4 days from racing. The 2015 Solar Car Challenge was a four-day track race at Texas Motor Speedway in which we finished with a total of 200 laps and zero penalties at the end of the race. The year was highly successful, but we want to set the bar high and be a top team in this next race. Unexpectedly, we have accomplished 357 miles in the 2018 Solar Car Challenge getting 2nd place in our division. We are now preparing for the 2019 Solar Car Challenge with that exact goal in mind, along with another car to come...
